Streamlining the solid waste management in South Development Region

The project, "Streamlining the solid waste management in the South Development Region" was launched in October 2010 and was implemented throughout the South Region. The major objectives aim at improving the environmental quality and the public health in the district centers of the South region by streamlining the solid waste management and the expansion of the waste collection services.The project has been implemented in all eight districts of the Southern region and, to date, has provided the construction of platforms for placing bins for separate waste collection, the endowment  of one bulldozer to the Municipal Enterprises "Local Communal Services" in the Causeni, Stefan Voda and Cantemir districts, and equipped with one specialized truck the Municipal Enterprises "Local Communal Services" the Basarabeasca, Cahul, Taraclia, Leova and Cimislia districts. Plastic-pressing machines, containers and trash cans were delivered to all of the southern region district centers and they have to be located in areas with apartment buildings when the platforms for selective waste collection are finished. The delivery of the plastic-pressing equipment and the computers, as well as the awareness-raising campaign are the most important activities within the project, followed only by activities for  educating the population after finishing the selective waste collection platforms. The project, "Streamlining the solid waste management in the South Development Region", implemented by the RDA South, is financed by the National Fund for Regional Development Project in partnership with the ,,Solid Waste Management - ENPI East", with a total cost of 15,350,083 MDL and with an implementation period of 24 months.
