The Regional Development Investment Forum began work

,, The geographical position of the South is a success, it's the only area in the Republic of Moldova with a connection to the Black Sea through the Giurgiulesti International port and we intend to develop it further. The region's climate offers unique conditions for quality grapevine growing and wine production. There are opportunities for development in the South, but they require to be prioritized and presented appropriately. The most important role in this process is that of the local stakeholders and the regional development can ensure this essential engagement This national project aims to transform each district center into a ready platform for attracting investment and its assimilation. We aim to provide necessary logistical and material support to ensure development, even if not balanced evenly throughout Moldova. The implemented development projects in South region do not meet all our needs and thus we have to work hard in this area. The foreign aid of which we are beneficiaries comes to help us, first, to make ourselves competitive and in turn to help those in need. I wish success to the forum and propose that  we should trace goals ambitious and achievable", said Vladimir Filat at the opening of the second day of the investment in regional development forum, "Creating Opportunities for Attracting Investment in the South Development Region", held at Purcari, 2012 .

During the first day of the event, on October 25, participants visited successful completed, or under implementation, projects and some tourist sites from south-eastern Moldova. During the second day of the forum, were organized plenary and sectoral sessions. Among the guests during the morning part of the forum were the Prime Minister of Moldova, the EU Delegation to Moldova Head, Dirk Schuebel, the Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Economy, Valeriu Lazar, the Minister of Regional Development and Construction, Marcel Raducan as well as national and local experts from priority areas of Southern Regional Development Strategy. 

About the opportunities and benefits of investment in this region spoke the Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Economy Valeriu Lazar. He said, "The core of the development process is created by the Regional Development Agencies. The fact that we have institutionalized such a process gives us the first results through the regional development strategies. Throughout the whole process of project implementation, at the decision-making level, we have introduced changes, which will allow us to not stray from the original conucept. We approach this potential with instruments, with investments to develop projects, we have an unprecedented openness from the side of the regional development partners. " 

Marcel Raducan, the Regional Development and Construction Minister welcomed, in his turn, the participants and noted that the regional sustainable development is the chance of a uniform development of our country and reiterated MDRC mission - to ensure a balanced development of the regions. Minister Marcel Raducan also spoke about the positive experience and the concrete partnerships made after organizing the Regional Forum in the North and expressed hope that the Regional Development Investment Forum in the South Development Region would promote direct foreign investments and provide opportunites for the participants to initiate joint projects and sustainable partnerships. 

The afternoon session consisted of sectoral sessions divided into three roundtables by established priorities where the local public authorities from both levels presented their project ideas to potential investors, invited guests from 12 countries. 

Road infrastructure and water - sewage systems, economy and energy efficiency, tourism and waste management were the three main areas that gathered local and national experts, and interested local actors.

The Regional Development Agency notes that the Investment Forum in South Regional Development lasted two days and took place on October 25 and 26 at Purcari tourist, complex in Stefan Voda.The forum goal is to present and promote the potential of the South Development Region, to present the investment opportunities in the region and to establish partnerships to initiate joint projects.To reiterate, the organizers of the event are the MDRC, the Ministry of Economy, the Regional Development Agency South and the Organization for Attracting Investment and Promotion of Exports from Moldova.At the Investment Forum were presented approximately 150 participants representing diplomatic missions in Moldova, the MDRC, the Ministry of Economy and other ministries, members of the Regional Development Council, representatives of local authorities, NGOs, as well as local and national media.
