South Regional Development Agency,  organized and conducted a Regional Forum "Entrepreneurship - key -factor in regional development". The event falls within the range of events held from 29 September to 5 October, on the occasion of the European SME Week 2014 in Moldova. The Forum ensures the exchange of experience and dissemination of learned lessons regarding the use of instruments to stimulate entrepreneurial activity.

The Forum was attended by over one hundred guests, representatives of: Ministry of Regional Development and Construction, Ministry of Economy, Southern Regional Development Council, Local Government, NGOs and private sector RDS, administrators and residents of Industrial Parks and Business Incubators, from  the country and abroad, local and national media.

The event was attended by His Excellency Pirkka Tapiola, Head of EU Delegation in Moldova, Minister of Regional Development and Construction, Marcel Răducan Economy Minister, Deputy Prime Minister Andrian Candu, delegates from the European Union - Romania, Germany, Slovakia.

In the beginning of the event, His Excellency, Head of EU Delegation in Moldova, Pirkka Tapiola said that "entrepreneurs play a crucial role in regional development, because they create jobs and promote innovation. EU principles imply equality for all citizens, and the regional development can ensure prosperity of your country. The EU will continue to support the Moldovan authorities both theoretical and practical, to make changes beneficial and necessary to Moldovan society. "

Minister Marcel Răducan, noted that "one of the priorities of regional development is to support entrepreneurs. South Development Region has enormous economic potential, and by establishing partnerships and projects we can develop its economic potential", in the context of state interest for a stable economic framework and productive. South RDA Director, Mrs. Maria Culeșov, said that " the investmentsc in infrastructure are felt from the north to the south of the country, through the intense repair of national and local roads. This is a priority for the South Development Region as well, but not the unique one. Regional development policy entails supporting the private sector and economic development of the country. To be successful, it requires intense communication, and today's meeting we want to favor the communication to all present here today. "

Entrepreneurs from the South Region participated in discussions that were  focused on the role of the private sector in regional development, business incubators and industrial parks - as business development opportunities.

With success stories and challenges offered by the industrial parks, the participants were informed by Mircea Cosma, Prahova County Council, Romania, the management of which is the second largest industrial park in Romania; business incubators experience was shared by the administrators of the two business incubators in the region - Leova and Stefan Voda, but also by Lucia Ușurelu, manager of the business incubator in Soroca.

With success stories and challenges offered by industrial parks, the participants were informed by Mircea Cosma, Prahova County Council, who manages the second largest industrial park in Romania; business incubators' experience was shared by the administrators of two business incubators in the region - Leova and Stefan Voda, but also by Lucia Ușurelu, Deputy Director of Project Entranse 2 Your Business.

At the end, the director of the South Regional Development Agency and the subsidiaries directors of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Cahul and Hâncești, have signed partnership agreements for future collaboration, implementation and development of joint programs, specific to regional development and institutional capacity.

We reiterate that the Regional Forum provides an opportunity to strengthen cooperation with the private and public sector to promote tools in stimulating economic activity in the South Development Region.
