In this respect, a project initiated by the Leova District Council was endorsed at the General Assembly of the Siret-Prut-Nistru Euro region Association, which asked the Romanian Government to include the construction of this Leova - Bumbata Bridge as a priority in the list of the bilateral economic projects. They also asked to initiate the feasibility study to identify possibilities to rehabilitate the existing bridges over the Prut between Moldova and Romania.

The adopted resolution provides that Leova is an integral part of the Siret-Prut-Nistru Euro region, created on September 18, 2002, and can improve its socioeconomic development indicators, using the possibilities of cross-border cooperation, having the status of a cross-border region and membership of the "Siret-Prut-Nistru" Euro region.

The parts have expressed their conviction that a bridge across the Prut River from Leova (Moldova) to the Bumbăta village (Romania) would contribute to the creation of the transport corridor "Odesa (Ukraina) -Stefan Vodă-Căuşeni-Basarabeasca-Cimişlia-Leova Republic of Moldova) - Bumbata (Romania) national road DN24A Bîrlad-Murgeni-Fălciu-Berezeni-Stănileşti-Husi" as an arterial road of regional and national importance. This road have to ensure the connection between the European Union and Eastern Europe and to facilitate the development of economic, cultural and commercial relations with investment prospects.
