Switch off the light for Earth Hour, Saturday, March 28, 2020, from 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm, to show that you want to live in harmony with nature. We urgently need a stable climate. Let's join forces to stop the degradation of nature! We protect nature, as it is one of our strongest allies against the climate crisis and is vital to our survival, well-being and happiness.
JOIN THE MILLIONS OF PEOPLE AROUND THE WORLD WHO MAKE THEIR VOICE HEARD, FOR THE PLANET!
Every year, on the last Saturday of March, millions of people, citizens around the world, institutions and companies pay homage to the earth, extinguish the lights for an hour, joining the largest environmental event in history - "Earth Hour".
The Ministry of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment (MARDE) and RDA South informs you that, in the context of the state of emergency, established in the territory of the Republic of Moldova, due to the epidemiological situation in the country, as well as not to admit the risk of illness with COVID- 19, this year, no public events dedicated to the environmental action "Earth Hour" will be organized.
In this context, MARDE and RDA South urge and encourage you to switch off the light and turn off non-essential appliances for one hour, at any time of Saturday, on March 28th, voluntarily, as a sign of concern for the environment. We also urge you to save electricity throughout the year and to contribute personally, through different actions, to diminishing or mitigating the impact of climate change.
For the first time Earth Hour was held in 2007 in Sydney, Australia. Then, 2 million people simultaneously switched off the lights and electrical appliances in support of actions against global warming and climate change.
The Republic of Moldova has joined this event since 2008.
