Regional Development Agency South (RDA), Leova Rayon Council and Leova City Hall announce the launch of construction works for European Union (EU) funded projects on water supply and sewerage (WSS) in Leova rayon and energy efficiency (EE) of "Constantin Spătaru" Theoretical Lyceum from Leova town, which will take place on Wednesday, November 4, 2020, at 10.00, starting in the town of Leova, in the yard of "Constantin Spătaru" Theoretical Lyceum, Leova town, 56 Ștefan cel Mare street, after which it will continue in Filipeni village, Leova rayon, near the Culture House in the locality.  

The Southern Development Region benefits from 4 infrastructure projects in which there are 7 investment measures, financed by the European Union, 5 of these measures are meant to improve the modernization of water supply and sewerage services in Leova, Iargara, Cupcui, Filipeni and Romanovca localities, and 2 are aimed at increasing energy efficiency within the "Constantin Spataru" Theoretical Lyceum in Leova town and "Matei Basarab" Theoretical Lyceum from Basarabeasca town. 

The measures are implemented in cooperation with the project "Modernization of Local Public Services in the Republic of Moldova", managed by the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ Moldova), in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment (MARDE) and financially supported by the German Government.

The total value of the water and sewerage investment measures is 138.5 million lei, of which 125 million lei are granted by the European Union and 13.5 million lei is the local contribution. Approximately 12,000 inhabitants of Leova town and Iargara, Cupcui, Filipeni and Romanovca localities will benefit from the water and sewerage projects from the Southern Development Region.

The total value of the energy efficiency project of "Constantin Spătaru" Theoretical Lyceum in Leova town is 53 million lei, of which 50.5 million lei being granted by the European Union and 2.5 million lei representing the local contribution. At the same time, the energy efficiency project of "Matei Basarab" Theoretical Lyceum in Basarabeasca town amounts to 19.9 million lei, of which 19.2 million have been provided by the European Union and over 700 thousand lei is the local contribution. The total number of beneficiaries in the two lyceums is almost 1000 pupils, teachers and auxiliary employees.

IMPORTANT:The event will be organized in accordance with the recommendations of the World Health Organization (WHO) on mass gatherings during the COVID-19 pandemic and, implicitly, in compliance with safety measures, mandatory wearing of masks by participants and physical distance of 1.5 meters.
